Today we lost the author who created one of the most famous fictional detectives of all time. Donald J. Sobol began writing books about Leroy “Encyclopedia” Brown in 1963, and he has been a welcome presence in our libraries ever since. 
Thank you, Mr. Sobol, for making it cool to be smart.
